Meet the Host

Alane Freund, LMFT, ICHS

I’m Alane, an academic and a clinician. I love teaching and supporting HSPs on their journey to better relationships and stellar mental health. I’m a believer in spiritual practice as a key component to our thriving lives, and retreat is part of that practice.

5 Stars! When I decided to start offering immersive retreat experiences for HSPs, I knew we needed the best. Part of my vision for thriving as a highly sensitive leader includes traveling in style, staying in luxury accommodations, visiting bucket list locations, immersion in nature, healthy gourmet meals… So I looked far and wide and found the perfect place… Imiloa. I know you are going to love it just as much as I do.

I have rented the entire resort. We will have 20-30 guests, hopefully including some couples or dyads sharing accommodations. Some of the rooms are entire luxurious houses from Bali, rebuilt on the top of a mountain looking out over the Pacific Ocean with small private pools. These look fabulous to me, but so do the other options, especially the geodesic domes, designed with sacred geometry and scattered throughout the jungle along the river as it passed along the mountainside. These domes speak to me of the shaman’s hut I long to have as my own, separate from others, but still with tremendous service and care.

The staff to guest ratio is better than 1:2. Retreatants will not want for anything, never carry a suitcase, and can even be carried to their dwelling (kind of joking, but Imiloa told me that they will even accommodate a wheelchair on the mountain!)

With such a large, attentive staff, pivots seem effortless. Cilantro in your dinner and you have that “cilantro tastes like soap” gene? No worries. A brand new entree will appear. The juice has watermelon and it isn’t your fave? A glass of a new freshly blended fruit smoothie is delivered to you. (Did I mention there is a freshly made juice/smoothie drink on the table for every meal?)

How is this about me? I have about a thousand food allergies, sensitivities, and dislikes… you might even say I am a bit high maintenance.😂 But at Imiloa, someone listens, smiles, and goes to the end of the earth to make sure your needs are met. I even heard someone say she didn’t feel full or satisfied with the meal– they brought here a lovely plate of different food (it even had a new protein.) Call me impressed! I ended up giving away all the special food I brought for myself to the staff. I didn’t need it!

As a highly sensitive, high achieving, and hard working person, I long for the kind of retreat that won’t exhaust me. Maybe a hybrid of luxury resort, deep quiet, and personal growth, an opportunity for a reset. Does this speak to you?

I chose this venue and retreat for myself, and for my people. Are you one? Would you care to come to the rainforest and rest, recover, restore, and retreat with me?
